A special Tribute
A Tribute to Someone Special
We live in a world of violence.
If your hair is too long, or the wrong color, you risk the chance of being hurt or killed. Wearing the wrong color shirt or
coat could cost you your life from a rival gang, even if you are not in one yourself. Humans do not understand respect for
each other. How then can they consider the non-human? Ok, you call them pets. You claim to “own” them. Excuse
me but it is not possible to “own” another life form, animated or otherwise. We are the caretakers of this earth.
We have the knowledge to make the tools or the chemicals needed to help nature survive. That we use this knowledge to kill
is the worst of all sins!
There are, however, some
people in this world that do not know what “mean” is. These are the people that accept furred and feathered creatures
into their home and treat them properly. They make sure there is plenty of food and water. The environment is clean. These
are the people that are the happiest. Then there are the extra special people. These are the ones that are as close to angels
on earth as is possible. These are the ones that take in and care for the abandoned and abused animals. Animal shelters take
them in and there are now some that are the “don’t kill” type. But, there is none so special as the following
two.
Their names are
Joyce and Shane. No, last names are not needed. These two aren’t financially rich. But, they have more love between
them than you will find in the entire city of Chicago. No animal goes hungry. She will do any and everything to ensure their
safety and well-being. When Joyce is busy, Shane takes over. Both find pleasure at the houseful of fur/feather kids. They
are as much their family as any human could be. There may be others like them but I have yet to hear about them. These two
have God’s hand on their shoulders at all times. Joyce and Shane are the richest people on earth because they have the
warmth, the kindness and the ability to give and accept the love of any and all of God’s creations.
It is people like this that
are hurt the worst when a company that claims to be animal friendly deceives them. These companies put chemicals out on the
shelves that are supposed to cure animals, not kill them. They cover themselves by putting (in very small letters), a disclaimer.
Excuse me but kind people like Shane and Joyce should not have to squint to see that this product is deadly. It says in big
letters what it is supposed to do. This is how money rules over kindness. Our hearts also go out to
all those others who lost their beloved "fur" children because of the tainted dog food that was being sold a few months ago.
Caveat emptor!

RAINBOW BRIDGE (Anon) Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows
and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine,
and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill or old are restored to health and
vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days gone
by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them who had
to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass,
his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when your and your special friend finally meet,
you cling to each other in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands
again caress the beloved head and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but
never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together........"
